Solidaridad comunitaria: ¡Para tod@s todo!
Somos voluntari@s, estudiantes, trabajadoras/es que creemos en una cultura popular y de la gente. Nos importan el mundo y sus pueblos. Por tal razón, todos nuestros esfuerzos (en las artes, las humanidades y en las ciencias) deben ser educativos y relevantes. Se trata de aprender a convivir con los intereses de la comunidad mundial por la justicia y la paz.

Democracia participativa: ¡Así se ve la democracia!
Entendemos que no somos ni la voz representativa de los intereses de la comunidad, ni la única voz de la comunidad, somos más bien un espacio para que crezca fuerte e independiente esa voz comunitaria. En otras palabras, estamos decidid@s a trabajar con la comunidad, no por la comunidad, para construir una comunidad de líderes en donde tod@s participen. Nuestro trabajo es el de informar y proponer con claridad lo nuestro. No estamos aquí para imponer nuestras ideas, todo lo que hacemos es con respeto y siempre pacíficamente.

Imaginación social: ¡La historia importa!
Todos los seres vivos estamos conectados por la misma historia mundial. La historia tuya es la mía y tus logros y pesares también lo son. Por lo tanto, hay que estar conscientes de esto; hay que conocer la realidad de nuestro mundo. La gente pobre, sea mexicana, sudafricana, o haitiana, sigue siendo gente pobre en nuestro mundo. Seamos solidari@s con tod@s l@s pobres de la tierra y con toda comunidad que quiera estar libre de la pobreza, de la ignorancia y de la represión. Así como queremos una comunidad que controle su destino, hay que respetar la auto-determinación de toda comunidad del mundo.

Responsabilidad individual: ¡Cumple con tus deberes!
Seamos conscientes de los recursos que tenemos a nuestra disposición. Somos privilegiad@s de tener este espacio, El Centro Cultural de México, entonces hay que trabajar para hacerlo grande. Sin embargo, este espacio solo progresará tanto como sus voluntari@s. Para que El Centro salga adelante, también es necesario que salgan adelante sus voluntari@s—en el trabajo o en la escuela. La familia y la educación no pueden ser segundas prioridades si realmente nuestro trabajo es el de crear comunidad. Un/a buen líder debe ser un buen ejemplo. Tod@s tenemos la responsabilidad de organizar nuestras vidas, al igual que organizar nuestro trabajo. Es importante quererse, cuidarse y también poderse auto-evaluar.

Community solidarity: Everything for everyone!
We are volunteers, students, and workers who believe in the people’s popular culture. This world and its communities are important to us. For this reason, all of our efforts (in the arts, humanities, and sciences) must be educational and relevant to these concerns and the concerns of these people. We must learn to integrate ourselves into the interests of the world community for peace and justice.

Participatory democracy: This is what democracy looks like!
We do not pretend to be the representative voice of the interests of the community, nor the only voice of the community. We are, rather, a space for such a community voice to grow with strength and independence. In other words, we wish to work with the community, not for the community, in order to build a community of leaders where everyone participates. Our job is to propose clearly what is ours. We are not here to impose our ideas; everything we do is done peacefully, and with respect.

Social imagination: History matters!
All living beings are connected by the same global history. Your history is mine, just as your successes and difficulties are mine. We must be conscious of this, and of the reality of our world. The poor and disempowered, whether Mexican, South African, or Haitian, are poor people in our world; we must be in solidarity with them and any community that seeks to free itself of poverty, ignorance, and oppression. Just as we work for a community in control of its own destiny, so we must respect the self-determination of all communities in the world.

Individual Responsibility: Handle your business!
We must be conscious of the resources that we have available. We are privileged to have this space, the Centro Cultural de México, so let us work for it to grow. However, this space will only grow inasmuch as its volunteers are able to grow as well – at work, in school, etc. Our families and our education cannot be second priorities, if we really want to create community. A good leader must try to be a good example. We all have the responsibility of organizing our lives, as well as organizing our work. It is important to love yourself, take care of yourself, and also be
able to self-evaluate
